Then and Now
Our groups have improved -- At least we think so!
We thought you might enjoy a bit of the history of our herd. These four pictures show the improvement our herd has made, but they also demonstrate the consistency of our strong dam lines.

Fall 2006

This 1st place dairy herd was made up of (left to right):  Lucky Star's QK Tweedledee 5*M (LA 90) a 2 yr old, GCH Lucky Star's QM a-Rresting 6*M (LA 92) a 4 yr old, GCH Lucky Star's Patina 2*M (LA 93,92), and Lucky Star's QM Paradigm 3*M  (LA 92) both 5 yr old.

Paradigm was milking thru from spring 2005!

These does are all at least 5th generation "Lucky Star"

Fall 2004

This 1st place dairy herd was made up of (left to right):  Lucky Star's Natural Raquel 3*M (LA 90), Lucky Star's QK Regan 3*M (LA 90), GCH Lucky Star's Patina 2*M (LA 93), and Lucky Star's QM Paradigm 3*M  (LA 92).

They are all descendents of the does below.  Raquel through her sire, Natural, Regan down from Hermia, a Rosa granddaughter, Patina down from Rosa as well and Paradigm who is the 6th generation "Lucky Star".

Spring 2000

This 1st place dairy herd was made up of (left to right): The 3 year old is --GCH Lucky Star's F Krystal 2*M (BIS that day at the Lamancha Specialty)
The 4 year old is --GCH Lucky Star's F Jalepeno 8*M To see Jalepeno grow-up
The 2 year old is --GCH Lucky Star's QK a-Llure 5*M daughter of Fay's sister.
a-Llure now
The yearling is --Lucky Star's One Marvelous 8*M --Dandy's granddaughter
These 4 does are all descendants of the does in the pictures below.   Krystal is a direct dam line from Rosa to Xanthe (Xquisite's littermate) to Cameo to Ebony to Krystal. Only Xanthe was or is not a GCH in that line. Jalopeno is 3 times the same family.
Summer 1995

This group represents our 1st place Breeder's Trio at the 1995 National show:
The yearling -- GCH Lucky Star's C Fay 4*M (3rd that day) -- Wonton's (pictured below) great granddaughter.
The 3 year old was also 1st that day--GCH Lucky Star's L Dandy 6*M -- Xquisite's (pictured below) daughter-.
The 3rd doe, a 4 year old, was the National Champion that day--GCH Lucky Star's Y Crazy Cradle 3*M-Wonton's granddaughter through Wonton's son-Yauldson.
(Note: These were the only 3 milkers in our herd without ringworm at the time of the show.  We couldn't even enter a dairy herd.)
Summer 1987

This group represents a Dam and her Produce:
The yearling is --GCH Lucky Star's QA Xquisite 5*M
The 2 year old is her full sister--GCH Lucky Star's QA Wonton Woman 5*M
The 3rd doe is their dam as a 6 year old --GCH Lucky Star's Rosa Maria 4*M.

Xquisite is Dandy's dam and grandam to a current herdsire-Natural.  Wonton's son Yauldson is in most of our pedigree's and no buck or doe in our is without Rosa in their pedigree.

We need to recognize that our herd owes credit to several Quixote bucks used through the years starting with Quixote's Arlo, followed by GCH ++*B Quixote's Shalla's Alladin, GCH +*M Quixote Shyla's Wizard and GCH+ +*B Quixote Kate's Kareem. Today we are using our 5th Quixote buck- ++*B Quixote Jo's Monet in conjunction with, a Krystal grandson from Little Orchard and a Paradigm grandson from Altrece. The Backus's in addition to producing fine bucks have also mentored us, almost from the beginning. We would like to publicly thank them for their contribution to our herd and the breed of Lamanchas. Their work with, and love for the breed is boundless.
